    Default Best CB Pairing

I can't be arsed to trawl thru all of the Bramble threads to find out but I'm intrigued as to what people view as our best CB partnership (assuming completion of the Bramble deal). I know a lot of people view him as the worst defender to sign for SAFC since Gareth Hall but would anyone put him in their starting XI alongside Turner or Da Silva?

As things stand, I'd still go with a Turner/Da Silva partnership to see if Da Silva is cut out for the prem but as Turner is suspended I expect to see a Bramble/Da Silva pairing for the first couple of games.

I agree, but I suspect Da Silva will just be utterly ignored, only making the bench even while Turner is suspended, with Bramble and Kilgallon starting against Birmingham.

I'd go with turner and Da silva, the only thing that would concern me about that is the lack of pace. Its a question of whether you value pace over concentration, as partnering either Ferdinand or Bramble with Turner is going to result in some blunders that would have us pissing ourselves if we weren't Sunderland fans

Turner for me is nothing more than a Championship (a best) clogger who gifts possession back to the opposition with his ridiculous punts so you need someone with a bit of distribution alongside him - Da Silva or Ferdinand.

I'd personally have Da Silva and Ferdinand in together, in order to retain the ball a bit more but that aint going to happen.

That is the exact opposite of what Ferdinand does. He is atrocious

if bramble is fit i'd imagine the centre back pairing for the first few games will be

    bramble and da silva/anton

Bramble and Da Silva is our strongest pairing.

Im guessing Brucey will give these two a run out together (assuming he has signed) as it will probs be our starting CB's with Turner suspended (unless Ferdinand turns it on pre season).

Im still not totally sure about Turner. Plenty of times he has lost his player and spends alot of the game with his hands wrapped around the strikers waist/neck. How the fuck the ref never gives pennas is beyond me.
