Absolute rubbish. He was always a left back in the youths and reserves, and played there for the first team until he spent most of the first season under McCarthy playing at centre back to fill a gap in our piss poor squad. He then reverted to LB and has played there ever since.

It's akin to him being called a right back, because he played there once too.
