    Default True Greats

We've had Pelé, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Moore, Eusebio...

The latest and greatest I can think of is Zidane. Messi has failed to impress on the true world stage so far, so who will be next? From which country will emerge the next world-beating player that can be truly branded a genius of football?

Agreed. Judge messi in 4 years.

However, South Americas domination so far in this world cup tells me that if he doesn't quite do it, there is likely to be another south American player stepping up soon.

This is Messi's second though (albeit he's only a year or so older than Maradona was in 1982).
