Default The Top 5 Earners At The Club

I was just reading a quote from Mignolet's father, when he was discussing Simon's move to us. He said:

    Quote:
“It’s a different world (in the Premier League),” added Stefan.
“I had to read the numbers on Simon’s deal twice. The money was a shock.
“Simon will earn three to four times what he does now.”
Obviously, we must have offered him a canny contract to attract him here ahead of PSV, but it got me asking myself what the top earners at the club are on.

I think the top 5 earners would be:

    Bent - £70,000
    Cana - £70,000
    Jones - £60,000
    Cattermole - £50,000
    Richardson - £50,000

I could be well off the mark with the above, we'll probably never know, but I think that's a decent enough guess.

The next 'bracket' of players such as Gordon, Steed, Anton etc, will probably be on £40,000-£45,000 IMO. If we can tie Gordon down to another contract, he'd be hitting the £55,000-£60,000 mark, IMO.

I think it'd frightening to see what the likes of Bardsley and Ringo are on, but that's just the way Premier League wages are these days.

Thankfully, we have a board who will only give what we can afford to spend, and when we spend big on players and wages at least we can be safe in the knowledge that we actually have the money to do so.

Richardson wont be one of the high earners. He is still on his original contract from when Keane signed him, and I doubt £50,000 a week was given out then.

I don't think anyone is over £60k a week, but could be wrong.

Id reckon Bents on about 38-40k to be honest.

with a bulk on 30-25 behind him.

    Obscene.

Aye, he's the one I was doubting when I was posting that list mate. He seems to me like someone who would have wanted massive money to come from Manchester United though, and would have been our 'big' signing at that time.

    You're probably correct.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Ferdinand and McCartney are in the top few earners. Both big money moves from a more established (at the time) London club.

I'd hazard a guess that every single number that you put there is well off the mark.

I think Jones will be the highest earner because of the contract he signed to ward off Spurs the other year. And I'd say he is on about £40,000, with Bent, Gordon, Cana on something similar.
