i still think if he had, which he has not, then capello would have played another player in the position.

Stephen Warnock is 28, why he is in the squad ahead of Baines I don't know.

Agreed. There'll be very few teams who use all 23 players over the course of the tournament.

Go through 95% of world cup squads and you will find outfield players who have not played a single minute

Shocking thread, Cartwright on a one man look at me mission today

Baines was poor in the friendlies (not entirely through his own fault) and then said he might get homesick.

no alli pally wanted me to expand my criticism. he wondered why i singled out heskey.

i am sorry folks but warnock, has played 6 mins of international football in the last two years. are you seriously telling me, that period allowed capello, to build up enough knowledge of him and his ability to perform, at world cup level, if ash cole had gone down with an injury after one min of the first game?

why has he not played any england international in the last 18 months?

that is why i call it a "pointless selection"

Cos Wayne Bridge was 2nd choice left back until he retired form international football

He was cover for left back was does not make him a pointless selection.

We might go through and A.Cole might get injured, then he might be needed

Who would you have took for cover for left back?

Have England been knocked out btw

Ask Capello. He rates him highly enough to have him close to the squad but hasn't given him game time. I think Warnock got in because Baines played himself out of contention as much as anything...
