Compared to that tournament this one has been a bit crap so far, if you're comparing the type of footie on display. Has there been any other EC or WC in modern history that has really stood out as being very attack minded? For some reason my memory ain't too good on these sorta things.

I thought the last one in Germany had some excellent matches. The established nations (the Dutch, the Germans, the Russians, the Spanish, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, even England) all played in some truly memorable matches.

The Japan / Korea World Cup was a good one too.

This hasn't yet got going but we've had this in the past with Italia 90 regularly, and rightly, remembered for consistently dire matches, with the exception of England in the knock-out stages.

Seriously though, I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as some people are making out. We're just about through the first round of games, and the opening games do tend to be cagey affairs.

I thought the game last night between Brazil and North Korea was fascinating given the way the Koreans played. It was certainly more interesting than a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of one of the tournament favourites, and it also should give anybody who might play Brazil later on (that could be us Fabio!) an idea of how to cope with them and at the same time hurt them.

They honestly haven't bothered me in the slightest. I thought they would but they haven't.

The Euro tournament has been of a very high standard for some time now with no real weak sides.

That's all finished now though as from now on it's impossible not to qualify.
