Bad press
Everyone likes to have a pop at media speculation and rumours but I wonder how bad things are. The Newcastle fans, in particular, write off everything the media says about their club as 'biased southern based journalists making up lies about our club.' I've noticed many posts claiming that certain newspapers are never right.
Fans will claim that they know more about their own club but, in reality, I'd think that journalists with contacts in clubs are more likely to know what's going on than fans 'who have a friend who's sister cleans the lavs at the ground'.
The media is also used as a mouthpiece by managers, players and agents who are trying to engineer a move, they may not all come off but I'd think we'd all be lost without the media and their stories. It's too easy to write off various newspapers because they have to try to get it right.
All newspapers have a duty to tell the truth, editors who want to be respected and journalists who want to get to the top through accurate and well informed reporting.........or am I being naive?

Well if anyone disagrees with you they'll be labelled as hypocrites and tree huggers, followed by stories about your uberness.
Not a big fan of dissent are you?

Re: Bad press
Most stories are fed to the papers, very few are just made up. Agents, managers and players agitate for moves, pay rises, longer contracts etc. Of course most stories don't come off but the player often gets his desired outcome

Good morning Mr Stalker
Asking people's opinions on an open forum is hardly keyboard terrorism is it?
Oh shit, I said 'terrorism' now I'll be in your black books...........SHIT, I did it again and said 'black' whereas I should have said 'a small book of unknown ethnic origins containing the names of people who have contrary views', a bit like the Gestapo.......oh BOLLOCKS, perhaps I shouldn't have used the word Gestapo, will you think I have anti-semetic tendencies?
Let's put it another way..........some people on here don't have a good word for you but I do............TWAT

To some extent, I'm just interested to see if people really believe that the media invent total nonsense to fill the pages/time or if there's a basis of truth and sometimes the transfer, or whatever, comes off and sometimes it doesn't?

Re: Bad press
I reckon in terms of sports press there's a 20% chance of it being real with 80% of "news" total bollocks.

The question is though, are we all so gullible that we'll keep reading the papers and scouring the websites if it's mainly fantasy?
Surely people will buy more papers if there's actual interesting stuff.....or am I being naive?
