    Default Waghorn wants settled future

Striker seeking permanent move if he is not in Sunderland's plans

Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn admits he would be 'disappointed' if he goes out on loan again next season as he looks to secure a settled future.

Waghorn has spent the past campaign on loan at Leicester City and scored 12 Championship goals for Nigel Pearson's side.

Foxes boss Pearson has not ruled out an attempt to sign the 20-year-old again next season, although a permanent deal is likely to be out of his reach.

However, Waghorn has confirmed that, if he is not going to be playing at Sunderland next term, he would prefer to leave the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis rather than go out on loan.
    Settle down

"I couldn't tell you about my future," said Waghorn in the Leicester Mercury. "I have been asked about it ever since I scored my very first goal. I don't know what is going to happen.

"I am going to go back to Sunderland for pre-season and work hard, and then see what happens and see what offers come in. I am going to play it by ear and work hard wherever I go.

"It has been great to know that your parent club's manager is looking out for you and to hear he has such high hopes for me is fantastic.

"I am not saying I won't come on loan again, but I want to settle down somewhere and get a regular spot.

"If it means going out on loan again, I would be a little bit disappointed. But, if I get a permanent move or stay at Sunderland, I just want to stay at one place and get my head down, and push on from there."

Surely his future is with us:-

    Bent
    Jones
    Campbell
    Waghorn

Peddle Murphy and Healy and this could be our strikeforce next season.
