    As long as Dave does this then I can't see a problem:

    "We aim to cut civil service wages by an average of 5% in 2010 and freeze them in 2011," he added.

    He said his own salary and those of senior cabinet members would be cut by 15%.

    Interesting to note that the unemployment rate in Spain is about 20%, reckon the UK rate will be at least 10% within 2 years.

    So then a question to all you public sector workers then. Are you prepared to take wage cuts in order to minimise job losses for your colleagues?

    Yes. It seems like the only sensible course of action to me.

    If in that position I would, yes. However, I would say that the large majority of people in this country wouldn't be that selfess and use the 'I'm alright Jack' stance. Better to cut the wages of the many than a percentage of workers (whatever that ratio would be).
