Question North East Travel links question...

If you wanted to get from Sunderland to North Shields on a morning using public transport, what would be the best/quickest way of doing it?

It's for a lass who is stopping with us (no pics!) who is starting a new job next week and that was what she was planning on doing. Was just wondering if there was a quicker way really. Suppose the Tyne kind of gets in the way.

She is from Scotland and works with the Mrs in Newcastle. Just out of university and got a short term contract so was just stopping at B&Bs in the week. When the Mrs found out she offered her our spare room and she's been with us about 6 months now.

She has now got an 11 month contract doing the same job in North Shields though, starting tuesday, so she's looking for a flat to rent north of the river now.

35 is the quickest, takes about 20 minutes from Sunderland.

there probably a number of ways.

get the metro from Park Lane to Heworth and change train to get to South Shields and then Ferry across to North Shields, then it all depends how far away from Ferry Landing she needs to be.

Get the Metro from Park Lane change at Monument for coast train - should take about 40-50mins.

Probably plenty of buses going between Sunderland and Shields but as somebody has already suggested go to the nexus website which will give all the options. Or even ring the traveline number.
