Helping hand need

Was out with my dslr for the first time taking some photos while i was hiking in the lakes. They have come out really badly, they all have a blue tint to them as though there was an effect selected on the camera. I was using a large f-stop in aperture priority mode which I think is the best setting for landscape, however I`m ready to be shot down in flames for being wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Could be your white balance settings - if you are shooting in Raw try a few different white balance settings and see if it gets shot of the blue tint.

Just looked at the photo EXIF data and indeed the white balance is Incandescent with a Tungsten light source - if you shot in RAW then you can change the white balance setting to daylight or Auto then you should be able to sort it out. Of course if you shot in JPEG it is a little harder - maybe Photoshop can sort it out for you.

Yep, it's your white balance.

If you've shot in jpg, in your pp program go to curves, select the blue curve and drag the middle of the curve downwards. You'll see a point where the colours are just about right.

Best to set your white balance to cloudy or shade.

Edit: I just messed about with your shots and had them looking "about right" in 30 seconds or so.

Same sort of thing happened to me a couple of weeks back. Must have knocked the WB button and half way through a mornings shooting the white balance changed from cloudy (correct) to tungsten.

My first response when reviewing the pictures at home was woooaaah broken camera!

They were all RAW and as soon as I corrected the WB settings all was well again.

One of the cameras had the white balance incorrectly set, and we didn't notice til 8 hours / 600 frames later. It's the lower mounted camera, the one that shot from the left hand side across the chips - comes in at about 0:23. Had to colour correct the lot, but even there's still a slight blue colourcast throughout.

White balance for sure, I know this as I was messing with mine the other day and found some built in settings indoors / clouds / landscape etc. One one of the settings they were exactly like yours

thanks for the help, i've edited them in photoshop and they're alot better. My white balance was set at something weird as suggested so thats altered back to normal now. Also thought i'd chosen raw & jpeg files but when i checked halfway through the day it was only on jpeg. Raw files are much easier to work with. Learned a valuable lesson, always check your settings, scafell pike is a long way to go back to if youve dropped a bollock!

was out again this week and had the white balance set to auto and also remembered to shoot in raw & jpeg, thanks for the help lads
