Albert Dryden
Anyone got a link to a video of that old fella from Durham who shot the cop live on TV?

Re: Albert Dryden
Now 69, and after serving 17 years in jail, he has vowed to get his conviction overturned on the grounds that he was provoked and, if he is successful, he hopes to receive £4m in compensation.

He should rot in jail. Provocation is one thing but he bought an illegal firearm, shot and killed someone doing his job, then reloaded it before firing it at other people. Lucky he didn't kill more people and lucky he wasn't in America where the copper would have shot him in the face.

Re: Albert Dryden
He was only provoked by someone doing their job anyway wasn't he? He had built a house without planning permission IIRC?

Had never heard that story before - was only 7 at the time but still surprised I have never heard any one bring it up since - its a pretty remarkable series of events.
Agree with smoker - he is after all a murderer and should not be allowed to mix with the general public ever again

"Another very funny killer from England. They really seem to be able to produce some wildly eccentric types over there."

Same here... despite growing up only 4 and a half miles away in Lanchester.
Although to be fair I was only 6 when it happened.

Re: Albert Dryden
He killed a council officer didn't he? The council team - some who were grinning like Cheshire cats - turned up with a TV crew & the police.
