Stopped smoking today!
right I'm GOING TO DO IT, I packed the cigs in today, not had 1 since 10pm last night,
any tips from any one who has completed the task?
really need to do this from both a financial and health point of view!

Keep telling yourself you don't want one and don't need one. Break any routines you had and replaces those with new ones.

nice one! i went 2 months at the start of the year then kinda caved
ive still only had about 20 all year so far though
have the odd one if im out with my smokey-mate but im not buying anymore
i feel ill after just one nowadays :)

Sounds daft, but the best thing to do is not smoke. Don't try and cut down, or wean yourself off, or only smoke weekends - just don't smoke.
It'll take a couple of days for the physical cravings to stop, but this is when your will power is strongest anyway. After that, it's all about breaking the psychological habit. Just remember that if you cave in, you've let the tobacco company win again.

it's never really completed
cold turkey for me and the realisation that if I could do it for 1 day I could do it for 2 then if for 2 I could do it for 4 blah de blah
now at over 2 years, somehow non the fuckin richer  but far far better health wise

did it 17 years ago. going past a mirror and saw mesell smoking. stood and watched and thought how ridiculous it looked and hyoyed all the tabs out. after that it was sheer determination. the cravings went on for months, but everytime i got a craving i substituted a tab for a wine gum. worked for me.
