    Default Digital Cameras....

Does this look like a good price for this camera? 14MP with 5x Optical Zoom seems canny for this price.

Or would I be better off going for a 10MP Panasonic Lumix like this for the same price.

Ive heard good things about the Lumix, but Olympus is a canny make too and 14MP is pretty decent.

Its a birthday present for our lass but cant really spend much more than this - saving for a wedding!

Raises the point that this forum is rather hidden by the format of the main menu

Epping is right, megapixels dont really mean that much on that type of camera unless of course your planning on printing out poster size pictures, which you probably aren't.

out of those two i'd go for the panasonic personally, the reason being is it has a Leica lens.

My compact camera only has 3MP (but it doesn't do a bad job).

At the cheap end of the range, number of megapixels is probably the least important thing so don't get hung up on that.

The Olympus looks like an Argos special and I can't even find anything on teh web about it, but that is not a bad price for a bottom of the range Lumix.

Both are respected manufacturers so I am sure they are both decent cameras.
