Default flash advice needed..cant make me mind up.

right, im after a flash for my sony a200, dont have a big budget so that rules out the sony one, anyway iv'e narrowed it down to these two..

    Metz 36 AF

    jessops 360 AFD

can get either for around £65 - £70 on ebay

now im wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with either flash as i cant make my mind up on which one to get...cheers!

I'm not sure but my son has the A300 + Sony flash and it is very easy to use the flash remote from the camera using the built in menu.

How compatible are they in that way which could help decide for me.

Sorry mate I don't but reading this review it appears the mount is made of plantic rather than metal on the Jessops.

Flash itself performed good but material and battery housing is very poor.
Very cheap material. Not worth to buy.I made a mistake and I dont want others to make same mistake.

I have asked Jessops to what they can do...They asked me take flashgun and receipt to shop and see what they can do.
I was at shop yesterday, they said because it was not like this when I bought it they can't replace, they can sent for repair and it will cost ?25.

Where it snapped is small part can be replace.I told them I am happy to buy spare part and fix it myself .They said they don't do spare parts for this product.

I refused their offer and will get in touch with them though other ways.

I have learnt my lesson once more and I have ordered Nikon SB-600 now from ebay for ?156.

Nikon flashgun has metal support where flah slide into camera.

It could be the same for the Metz by the look of it.

It could be a problem over time. The same problem occurred with my Nikon Coolpix regarding the battery cover which is now knacked as it is made of plastic.

You may be able to get the Sony for around £140 over the net if you can raise the extra cash.

cheers for that mate, even though that guy was pissed off with his iv'e still bought it today anyway, would love to have got the sony one but it's too much cash for something i may not use too often where as i can easily justify £60...anyway i think i'll treat mine gently to make sure it doesn't break.

He says the flashgun itself works fine but was concerned about the mount.

If you're careful it should be fine.

I've just checked an old flashgun of mine that is around 15 years old that I used on my old Canon 35 mm SLR which has a plastic mount and it is still ok so maybe he was a bit careless.

Go for the metz, always a good brand in flashguns, probably knocked up in the far east but usually a company with a well known brand will usually have better qc
