    Default Fitting a bathroom.....

Looking to update our bathroom, suite's been in about 6 yrs and the wall and floor tiles since the house was built about 12 or so years ago.

My question to the wise SMB is how much on average should I be looking at to have someone to replace a suite like for like (I'd buy the suite). Gonna need all the tiling done anarl but figure (bearing in mind DIY isn't a strong point of mine) that you start with the new stuff in first and then tile around it.....or actually, come to think of it, maybe that's not the right way and you tile it first...

Oh I don't know......someone help me out here!

About £300-600 based on a bog standard small bathroom.

depends on the quality fo fixtures and fittings you want.. if its liek for like then why bother

a decent make like Ideal for bog, cistern, sink and bath with taps will set you around about a grand if you shop around. if to existing pipework it'll be aquick job to fit

a half decent all round builder should be able to do all the job for under 4k with all the tiles, bath suite etc.. a weeks work..

upnorth probably get the labour quite a bit cheaper...

I'm taking in doing a bit of electrics and stuff..

with bathrooms you can spend as much or as little as you want to be honest...

Second good laugh Ive had today .you might have to get it plastered first fella, depending on what damage is done taking the tiles off, that would make sense getting that done when the suite was removed .

    Fecking Hell Epps.

You`d get a suite from Crosslings or Howden maybe for about £300 plus the vat and someone would do the changeover for about 4-500. Tiles prob about £600 fitted id say.
all done for about 1300 snots.

I like proper stuff... no bending in the gear I have and won't need replacing in 5-6 years

Ideal Standard all the way for me... £400 for bath alone

I'm very much of the train of thought "buy shite buy double"

Cheers for that, been looking at it for a while, was looking to move but now looks like we are going to stay put and update the original bathroom and also add a second bathroom too. Was quoted 2 grand get the space for the second bathroom ready and do the external pipework etc and then have it ready to fit a suite and tile it but want to update the existing one at the same time.

When I said like for like, I just meant that there'd be no structual changes or anything, just a straight forward replacement.

Budgeted around the 5k mark for the two....may have to sell a bit more gold!!

My mate's a tiler and he did our en-suite a couple of years back. Charged £700 to tile the whole thing(6ft x 6ft max). That was labour only but he did fit a heated towel rail.
I would guess at Crosslings or Travis Perkins could do you a deal on a full suite. If you want the name of my mate, just PM me

New bathroom: £300 (bog standard with taps).
Tiles: £20/m2 (includes adhesive & grout) any fucker can tile, you'll not need to plaster - just rough it down with a hand rasp and give it a light skim with tile adhesive to make it flat.
    Plumber: £100

Rip out all the fittings & existing tiles before the plumber gets there, turn off the water first like.
