Any fans on here? Brilliant gig in Leeds last night. Great chemistry and humour between the two of them, amazing vocals, faultless guitar. Incredible response from the audience. Never known two people with such minimal backing create such a great atmosphere. Just booked for The Sage in November.

I had a sneaking suspicion they were record company-manufactured Americana/alt-country by numbers - it all looked a bit too slick, pressing all the right musical and image buttons. Am I wrong then? Are they genuine?

No idea about that and, to be honest, I had/have my suspicions as well, but musically they re very good.

They told the story last night that they got together on a kind of musical blind date - two of several 'blocked' singer-songwriters who got/were put together to see if they could gel. If you call that manufactured then fine, and I know what you mean, but it really does work.

Best one was probably the American Civil War.

The English one (1642-1649) is quite complicated when you research it, and the Scots change sides more often than the Italians in the World Wars.
