Techy help - Lexmark printer

I have it set to print in black and white as it keeps acting up when printing normally - and B&W is all I need anyway.

Two questions.

Does it still use colour ink under this setting?

And if so, is it okay to put a black cartridge in instead of colour?

Depends on the setup - do you have a black cartridge AND one or more colour cartridges?

If it acts up when printing colour chances are the colour heads are blocked - have u tried cleaning them??

Dont put a black catridge into the colour slots, asking for bother - just set to print black and white if all else fails and dont put colour cartridges into the printer.

One black and one colour cartridge.

So you are saying just leave colour slot empty when set to B&W?

Tried cleaning heads but makes no difference.

Yep if the colour just wont work, leave it empty and set to print b&w only.
