The SBR syndrome, beware
I remember being terrified when Sir Bobby Robson was the manager at NUFC.
He was a nightmare for Sunderland fans and fitted every requirement as a Mag boss, local hero, excellent manager, contacts all over Europe, respected throughout the country and absolutely impossible to hate.
I really thought the Mags were about to break their half century duck and win something
But then, a miracle happened.
The 'Geordie Nation' became restless and when the Mugs in charge sacked him because they felt 'he couldn't take the club to the next level' there was barely a murmur of protest, nee bedsheets, nowt!
The Newcastle managers job was decribed as being 'one of the top jobs in world football'.
The Mags were salivating at the thought of one of the really big names coming in and they were totally unbearable. Now they have Chris Hughton signing players like Best and Perch.
We all want success now but sometimes there's a very high price to pay for going for a quick fix. I'm sure that, now that the window has closed, every Sunderland fan will forget that Steve Bruce once went to watch Newcastle when he was a kid and give their support to the club. We all do daft things when we're young. A top half finish and a decent cup run may not be earth shattering but it's progress and that'll do for me this season.

Hoping against hope there like. Every dropped point will be met with a cyber outpouring of hatred filled I told you so.
You see the same old people just waiting to jump on his back.
No money to spend.................... Bruce Out
Player sent off..................... bruce out
WC defender loses his man Bruce out
Player chooses another club Bruce Out
The sad thing is these things were excusable if the manager was RK, but as it's SB his schoolboy football allegiances will always be an albatross round his neck for the bigotistas. They use the other stuff to veil their real reason for their outpourings.

The board will always have a sizeable proportion of ractionary but the fact we are managed by a Geordie makes it easier in their tiny little minds.
Keane was teflon for ages on here.
Quinn could rape and old lady on Fawcett Street but it would deemed "good for the club" by some on here.
Just keep on bumping and posting links to what the say, it might drive them out.

Re: The SBR syndrome, beware
The Pretenders once said, "There's a thin line between love & hate."
The Mags chose to ignore the fact that Robson was from Durham and also that he was fond of Sunderland and attended games to cheer the team.
That was because of what he achieved.
I would bet that even the most cynical B&W hating Sunderland fan would forgive Bruce his childhood indiscretions if we were parading the FA Cup around the town or booking flights to European matches.

Didn't Bruce take a mediocre Birmingham side to Sid James and win 1-5...?
-proof enough for me that if Bruce ever had any feelings for the Toon they
were more than dead and buried that night,

Re: The SBR syndrome, beware
The doomers are very quiet right now, Titus playing well, cash spent,Jones replaced, team coming together, great result agains City.
But fear not, they are out there, lurking, waiting to pounce. One mistake by Titus or Richardson, one bad pass by Catts, one sitter missed by Gyan, one dropped ball by Mig, one poor result and they will return with their sad little heeds popping above the SMB board to shout, I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN, SAME OLD SUNDERLAND, CANT TRUST A MAG, TITUS IS SHIT, RICHARDSON IS NEVER A LB,BRUCE MUST GO NOW,WE ARE SKINT.
Just you wait..

I don't believe most of this, "Oh this manager or that manager is a bit fan of club X, Y or Z."
According to the Mags, Keegan has NUFC tattooed through his heart but he's NEVER been to the ground unless he was being paid a fortune. Same goes for MoN and Sunderland.
Football managers are more interested in their reputation and bank balance, I reckon.
