were absolutely brilliant. Was anyone else from SMB there?

Only thing that I didnt like was that they were in the small room surely they could easily have filled the big theatre type room.Any ideas why?

Saw them at the Academy (in the 'big room') a couple of years ago and they were class, crowd surfing, speaker stack climbing, sing along, and the first album was chock full of tunes. But the second album bombed as they went all serious and heavy, and surely their time was gone. Never seen a band upstairs, and on another note, has anyone sat up on the balcony for a main band? Does everyone sit down and clap politely?

They were surfing and all that, their energy never floundered it was superb, no slow love song shit to rest the voice..

Aye I've seen Rancid and The Stiff Little Fingers from the balcony it was class anarl, everyone was still jumping about. It had the added benefit of being easier to get a pint in the bar behind

I used to be the moderator of their messageboard back in the day. I was completely in love with them and their first album. Still some of the best gigs I've been too (and ever will). I've got a load of random recordings by them on my old computer - EP's, demos etc from when they were called Mustard Seed and then Platypus.

yeah i went with a friend who posts on here too. we absolutely loved it! me and randle went the other year when they were downstairs too, always good fun.

i am still covered in bruises off it! massive big scrape on my arm too.

i was a little worse for wear and at one point was right at the front getting bashed all over. thoroughly enjoyable

While people are on here, every gig I've been to at the Academy, the sound has been shit. The worst being Glasvegas, but to be fair they were dire that night. And people who clearly pay good money to see a band, and then shout/chat to themselves all night? What's all that about? Ruined Seasick Steve for me...............

Dont know anything about their history but they played the best from all the albums, the best part of it for me is that they still sound brand new and raw rather ten commrcial and up their own claypits
