    Default Bruce wants momentum

Sunderland boss targets back-to-back wins in the Premier League

Manager Steve Bruce is aware the next month is a crucial phase in Sunderland's season as the club aim to escape a supposed 'disaster area'.

Aston Villa, including former Black Cats striker Darren Bent, visit the Stadium of Light this weekend hoping to inflict a third home defeat of the campaign on the hosts.

But after what had previously been a wretched campaign, Sunderland's confidence is on the up following last week's victory over Bolton which lifted them to 14th in the Premier League.

It was a welcome break for Bruce, who has reportedly been facing the sack, especially with the tough task looming of a trip to former club Manchester United at the start of November.

But after visiting Old Trafford, Sunderland face Fulham, Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn and Bruce wants to build momentum against Villa.

He said: "Considering the disaster area we're supposed to be, if we win, with a quarter of the season gone we'll be where we want to be, which is in the top 10.

"It's very difficult to go back-to-back in the Premier League, but we've got an opportunity. I believe the squad is as good as it has ever been. We just need that time and a couple of results to quieten the storm.

"We've got Manchester United round the corner, but then we've got a group of fixtures, no disrespect to the Wigans, Blackburns, Fulhams and Wolves, that are far easier, if that's the right word, than the Liverpools, Manchester Citys, Chelseas and Arsenals. It's a big period of the season for us."

He's back to being a knob....

Disagree. Stringing 2 or 3 wins together is pretty difficult for anyone not in the Top 6 or 7. I don't think it's a problem unique to us.

What are you complaining about he is speaking the truth , when holloway or mic mac make similar statements there seems to be a love fest . Stop looking for things to moan about and get behind the team .
