    Really think if there is any truth in the bruce offered to resign rumours we should snap his hand off!! Really think we are going backwards now and i reckon mark hughes would be a excxellent manager for us. any thoughts?

    I don't. We need experience of winning stuff as a manager at the top level. Hughes does not have that.

    Bruve has no idea what his best team is and has failed time and time again to strengthen positions every fucker knows we are crying out for! his signings baffle me out of the 10 theres probably only 2 quality brown and oshea. come on ellis get ya skates on before its to late and the crowd turn ugly!

    Can't imagine Hughes would do any better than Bruce, but couldn't do any worse, so for that reason I'm in.

    I think the difficulty is in your question. It's the "Who could we attract" bit. And that is partly our own lack of belief in our own quality and potential, partly what seems to a lack of willingness to spend on a manager, perhaps an unwillingness to offer a decent budget - and who could blame Short after Bruce and Keane - and finally our lack of recent tangible success.

    So that's the negative stuff out of the way. I don't want to start listing managers, there is another thread on the go at present doing that.

    But a manager of the calibre of Benitez or Van Gaal, or Moyes (Yes I know that he doesn't meet my criteria) ought to be our target. The problem I see is that this would be regarded as an unrealistic ambition both amongst us, the fans and also at board level. But aiming low guarantees failure ... as evidenced right now.
