O'Shea's Not Going To Come To SAFC...
He's currently on £80,000 a week at Manchester United (the highest paid Irish player ever), has 3 years left on his contract worth £16.5m and usually plays 30-40 times a season (sometimes more, rarely less) for them.
Ferguson accepting the bid obviously indicates he's willing to part with the player, but I'd imagine other clubs such as Tottenham and Aston Villa will also be very interested in his services and could offer him a larger wage than we could.
It's only my opinion of course, but I just can't see him coming to Sunderland.
Out of the 3 potential Manchester United signings he's the one I really, really want us to get. He'd be such an improvement to our defence. I hope I'm proved wrong, but I just don't think this deal will happen.

Surely Bruce would of known of his wage before bidding for him though? I can't imagine that he would realise his wage is too high for us when having talks with him.

I'd be very surprised to see him sign for us.

That sounds like a complicated formula for working out a players wage. Any chance you could explain it in layman's terms?

Re: O'Shea's Not Going To Come To SAFC...
Man U fan on a different thread said he only had 1 year left.
They've got Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans, Smalling and now Jones to play centre back. Fabio, Rafael and Evra to play full back (maybe Jones too).
Don't know if they've got any other young defenders but he's going to be way down the pecking order, even Valencia's played right back the odd time this season.

I thought his contract was up in 2012? (I haven't done any research like but it's what I read a few people say on a United forum )
