    burn them to disc, or put onto another generic mp3 player

    or are you stuck to keeping them in itunes/ipod

    Put them on a CD, then rip them back and Ta da! all the silly iTunes restrictions are gone.

    Tidied.

    Might seem picky, but it's an important distinction otherwise you just end up with a CD full of iTunes DRM restricted mp3 files.
