    Default BBC Censorship

Having watched a few films on BBC tonight (previously Eastern Promises) and now The Rock, i have to say the censorship is pissing me off.

Why have they consistently edited the word "Shit" from the Rock yet thought it was ok to show Viggo Mortteson fully naked fighting on BBC HD?

As we all pay a licence fee for the BBC why do they treat us like kids and edit the 'naughty' words. As paying customers shouldnt we be allowed to watch a film the way it was recorded?? Who are the BBC to decide what is right?

At the end of the day the film has been displayed after watershed. If the word Shit cant be used after watershed, whats the point in having it.

Valid point though...I flicked onto Eastern Promises just in time to see that Russian mobster lying twitching on the floor with a curved knife stuck in his eye. But thanks to censorship of The Rock, I only said 'sugar' at the sight...

They said the authorities said they werent allowed to show Zidanes headbutt on a world cup preview show (after 9pm). Everyone else showed it.

For some reason I have noticed the same thing on the Paramount Channel, when a "small" swear word is being said it is completely edited it out.

I remember seeing Robocop on BBC and the guy was blatantly saying "Fcuk Me", but was edited to "why me". Seemingly by a guy with a totally different sounding voice

I loved "The Young Ones" series when I was knee high, taped it off the telly and used to watch it over and over.

When the BBC released it to buy on video I bought it only to find out they'd cut bits out

I learnt then that piracy pays.
