good article, I disagree that our expectations have been raised though. Most on here are predicting an 8th to 10th finish

How much have they spent so far like?

Other than that, it is a decent article and not far off the mark. The thing is though, the majority of level headed fans will be happy with consolidating a top half place.

Pretty much sums up what most SAFC fans think. Can't see us breaking into the top six, but a cup win is a possibilty if we're very lucky.

If we finished 7th or 8th I'd certainly be well pleased but I don't think most fans expectations have been raised THAT much.

Would love to finish a place higher if possible, but yes another top ten finish will do for me

My expectation is that we avoid relegation and ideally finish top ten whilst having a decent run in a cup. The basic fact is that, until someone decides to invest hundreds of millions of pounds of their own money in SAFC, whoever is in charge is a custodian that needs to keep us in a position where we could improve and remain financially viable. That means "comfortable" survival which may be a bit boring but perfectly satisfactory and any excitement will come from the odd big game and cup competitions.

After decades of "exciting" shite I'd settle for a decade of decent dull!

The thick end of fuck all i think. He fails to say why people were calling for brucies head last season and then says fans wont be happy with a top ten finish again. Love this jorno lark you dont have to do owt just pull things out of thin air and get paid for it.

He's spot on. Whilst most level headed fans would be more than happy with an 8th-10th finish this season, beating the Mags and progressing the cups, in the future, we may well find ourselves in a similar position to Everton or in the past Charlton and Bolton (who had lower expectations) where you reach your peak and suddenly 7th every season is no longer satisfying. The cups are the key. Getting to a final, or even better, winning a cup, would be a significant landmark in the club's history, regardless of people's perception of them these days.
