Onuoha not ready for Nigeria
Quote:
Super Eagles manager Samson Siasia’s hopes of a rock-solid rearguard with Nedum Onuoha the powerhouse during Nigeria’s two-legged 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia were dashed on Tuesday after the Sunderland star insisted he was not interested in playing for Nigeria now.
The defensive frailties which have haunted the Eagles since the likes of Uche Okechukwu, Austin Eguavoen, Taribo West and Ben Iroha quit the stage may have forced Siasia to mount pressure on former England junior international Onuoha to pledge his international future to Nigeria.
Fenerbahce’s Joseph Yobo is arguably the only quality player in the heart of Nigeria’s defence, and Siasia might have planned to add the highly experienced Onuoha.
However, the 24-year-old says he is in no hurry to make a decision on his international future.
“It was dealt with earlier in the season,” Sunderland Echo quoted the player, who was born in Warri, Delta State on Tuesday.
“I won’t be playing for Nigeria this season.
“The chances are I’ll still be on holiday in the summer!”

Re: Onuoha not ready for Nigeria
I wish players would be quicker to come out and state which nation they want to represent. I might be being unrealistic, but for me you have one nation that you would like to represent, and the choice shouldnt be made based simply on which nation is better at football, it should be based on which nation you are more passionate about
We seem to have a load of players who wait and wait for an England call just to suddenly change allegiance when they realise they're shit. Constantly just choose the better side and its wank. Nedum needs to work out if he would rather represent England or Nigeria- if he considers himself more Nigerian, no problem, but come out now and say it and England wont need to bother even considering him. If he dithers, refuses to commit to either until it becomes obivous he wont play for England and then suddenly decides he wants to play for Nigeria, I would consider it disrespectful to the Nigerians tbh
I see Victor Moses has changed his allegiance to Nigeria because Pearce only had him on standby for an under 21 game Pathetic, spineless c unt that he is- a player that unbothered about representing England will be no loss

Re: Onuoha not ready for Nigeria
cant see him improving enough to make the grade full time for England so Nigeria probs his best option. Obviously if he signs for us I hope to be proved wrong

How delusional can you get?! England are shit mate, you might not have noticed. Do you really think they are better than Ghana? Why shouldn't Welbeck take his time over deciding?
Do you think Bernie Slaven was pathetic for playing for the Republic when he has a Scottish accent?
People should play for who they want if they have a blood connection to the team.

Delusional? For suggesting that England are better than Nigeria? Get a fucking grip, of course we're a better side. For all we arent great nowadays, Nigeria are worse- out of their world cup group with 1 point and needing to call up Onuoha and Victor fucking Moses ffs.
Can I ask you where the fuck I said that I think England are better than Ghana? Dont remember mentioning Welbeck or fucking Ghana once tbh
And people shouldnt take their time over deciding because they should already know which country they are more proud of and want to represent. You are right when you say that people should play for who they want to if they have a blood connection to the country, absolutely spot on, but that decision shouldnt be based on which team is more likely to give them a game or which side is better, it should be based on which one they feel more of a connection to. Welbeck will either prefer Ghana or England, he should let us know which one, as should Onuoha

more to do with whether the player believes he has a chance of playing for England. Neither Welbeck nor Nedum can be sure they'll ever be good enough so why commit to a nation that might not want them.
