    Default shanghai garden instant noodles?

on the back it says 100 grams gives 115 cals, yet on the front it says 235 cals despite being a 108 grams packet, now i hear you and i am fuming but the madness doesn't stop there because on the back it also says half a pack weighing 204 grams is 235 cals, perhaps the sachet of flavour may account for the extra. maybe.

now i scanned the packet with myfitnesspal to get some sense and that says 1 pack is 590 cals.

mind the other day i tried to calculate my calories i needed and converted my weight of 188 pounds into 188kg for some reason.

Perhaps when you cook the noodles the weight changes.

But water doesnt have any calories?

Try zero noodles or shirataki noodles, practically no calories and low carb but they are pricey.

Yeah so that would explain why 100g (cooked) gives 115kcal but a whole packet (108g dry presumably should be 204g cooked) gives 235kcal. Doesn't explain where your phone gets 590 from though.

What's in them then? Just fibre?

Water has no calories but the weight of the food changes. Water adds weight, resulting in a cooked measure of say 100g having less calories than a dry measure of say 100g.

    Doesn't matter.

    54g dry = 100g cooked = 115 kcal

    108g dry = 204g cooked = 235kcal

When the packet says 100g is 115kcal it means once you've cooked it. If you ate the full 100g packet without cooking it then you'd still get 235kcal.
