Default Malware - Help from the techies please

When using google Chrome, there is a problem with me using google. I google something, and then maybe 2 out of three times that I click on a result it begins to navigate me to where I want to go and then redirects me to some fucking advert for something else.

i mentioned this problem on another thread several weeks ago and was told my laptop probably had some malware on it, so I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy and I've ran several scans and it never finds anything other than cookies.

    What should I do?

Are you sure it's google you're using? It's possible your host file could be pointing sites to the wrong address. On your PC go to C:\windows\system32\drive rs\etc where you'll see a file call hosts, double click the file and open with notepad, there you'll see a list of redirected sites. If you have any then clear the file and save it.

I tried this when the problem initially appeared and everything was in order, cheers though

I've downloaded this and malwarebytes, ran them both and they found a few things. It's still happening but the ratio of successful attempts to redirected ones has increased greatly, so thanks all
