Is life too easy at SAFC....
Just been watching Man Utd there tonight and, as it's always been, no matter what they've won the previous season the players always seem supremely motivated. Great players working like trojans.......closing down quickly, lots of movement and a reluctance to accept that they won't prevail. Year after year, no matter who plays for them it's like this. Surely given his heritage our manager must demand this from his players.....but no.....they come back pre-season half fit and half arsed and still start.......go a goal down and decide oh well there's always next week. Whatever he's good at Steve Bruce can't get his players to go the extra mile.

This is true but it is a bit rich comparing our players with Manchester United's. Bolton or Stoke would be nearer our level.

Funnily enough i also watched Bolton's game against Man City yesterday and against a far better team than we faced on Saturday they gave 100%.....even when 2 goals behind they gave their all and almost got back on level terms. Similarly with Stoke......just go back to our game down there last season.

Re: Is life too easy at SAFC....
I was watching some PL review thing, and thought something Fergie did after his first Prem title was brilliant. He was giving an interview talking about how he kept his players motivated.
After their first title win under him, the first training session back after pre-season he gathered them together and said 'I know we won the league last year, but that doesn't matter now, we need to win it again, to keep going forward and not rest on our laurels.' He then produced an envelope and said 'I think there are some players in the squad who will rest on their laurels, and I have four names in this enevelope of who I think those players are. We'll open the envelope at the end of the season and see if I was right.'
He then gave the enevelope to the captain or his assistant manager to look after.
Every player played their heart out, so that if they were in the envelope they could prove Fergie wrong at the end of the season.
There were no names in the envelope.

There's been no fight in the team since Keano left.

Cos they ARE playing for Man U, its probably been their dream... I cannot imagine anyone outside the clubs catchment area that would dream about playing for us to be honest. It's a motivation that can't be be bought but come from playing for a club with 'aura'.
The best we can hope for are players who just dreamed about playing for a PL team or the 'stepping stone' players.
If we can get on a bit of a roll though that itself will motivate the players that bit extra that money can't.
