    This.

Alternatively you could get my father in law, a carpenter, to do it for a few quid. As long as you don't mind the odd gouge in the worktop..."Nobody will notice"

Do not, I repeat do not get it fitted by magnet, b&q or whoever you buy it from. Go with a good local fitter. Big companies contract their work out to fitters, sometimes to fitting companies, so they charge more as 2 or 3 parties need paying. Go directly to someone and you only pay them. Ask around at work, on here etc, someone will know a good fitter and it will save you a fortune. We got ours done last year, a standard 8 unit kitchen from b&q, cost around 1,800 (our fitter got us it at trade price). He used to fit for b&q and magnet and said it'd have cost about 3 grand for them to fit (even though, like I said, it's not actually their staff). He charged us 1200 and it took him a week. We ripped our old kitchen out ourselves, so that money included him fitting the kitchen, installing a new 'floating floor' as the old concrete one was cracked and uneven, and all the new electrics and gas lines that went in as we were changing things around. He organised all gas and sparkies to come in (guys who always do it for him). I think, excluding those guys' fees, the fee for him actually fitting it was about 800. He's since fitted my parents' new kitchen and they were also very pleased with how things went. What area are you in, we're in Darlington, if you're around the Durham area I can PM you his number.

Cheers spug. BTW we're very pleased with ours, considering our budget. If I can work out how to put photos up on forum runner I'll stick a couple on.

@ the op: you can save a fortune by buying online. rigid kitchens are the way forward and they save you fitting time/costs.
