    Default Vaughan vs Cattermole

An excellent blog was posted earlier showing what our new midfield signings will bring to the team: http://bit.ly/pUwbcu

As it stands Gardner and Larsson seem like shoo-ins to start, but the comparison between Vaughan and Cattermole caught my eye. It's very difficult to imagine them playing together in the middle unless we're going ultra-negative, and the stats from last season suggest that Vaughan would bring more to the team. But Cattermole is still learning, and likely to be on-pitch captain. Who would you start with?

Vaughan is more of a passer and a creative player. Cattermole is more of a solid, tackling defensive ball upholding midfielder.

No real comparison, they should go together well

Very interesting read that. We'll certainly have a more combative midfield with Gardner , catt's and Vaughan.

As SEB, no Gardner? I'm not entirely sure a 5 man midfield is the way to go. Going by the article: http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/thefren...-in-paris.aspx

I'm not sure how Sess will get on if he's expected to play on the left. It'll be interesting to see how Bruce sets up the midfield.

This inparticular caught my eye, not a side of the game i thought Gardner would offer:

Gardner’s first full season in a Birmingham shirt saw him make 3.1 Tackles per game, the best of their first team players, with Scott Dann next on 2.7. A fair indication of Gardner’s graft in midfield is highlighted by comparing him with other Premier League stars- Alex Song and Cheik Tiote made 3.3 for Arsenal and Newcastle respectively and Nigel de Jong made 3 for Man City

I have Vaughan taking on Henderson's role.
