Default I wonder who it was

Before SNQ appointed Roy Keane as Manager. Quinn said that he had approached an experienced Premiership Manager to fill the post.
However said experienced Manger turn the job down because.

Sunderland are in the Championship and I do not want to put my reputation on the line.

Now who could have said that?

    You're implying O'Neill. O'Neill didn't say that.

Prove me wrong. A single link will do.

Was on another thread that Big Sam had agreed to take over, contracts all done but had a last minute change of mind, so we got Keane instead. It got mentioned on Look North earlier this week.

Martin O'Neill was certainly sounded out and didn't want the job

O'Neill came out and publicly said he didn't want to take the Sunderland job because he was taking a break from football to care for his wife, who had cancer at the time.

I thought this was common knowledge.
