    Default John Charles

Anybody have the honour seeing this fella play, just done a read of his Wiki page.

    Two things stand out

Name Juventus best foreign player ever in 1997, quite a accolade when you consider some of the players who played for them

    Also

Charles' accomplishments with Juventus led to him being voted 'the greatest foreign player ever in Serie A', ahead of Maradona, Michel Platini, Marco Van Basten and Zinedine Zidane – this in 1997, 34 years after his last appearance in the league. In 2001 he became the first non-Italian inducted to the Azzurri Hall of Fame.

    ^^^

    Some accomplish that fucker

    93 goals in 155 matches

For Juventus! Not a bad return for a centre half that like!

Way way too young to have seen him play, have read about him though. He was a centre half/forward and would often start the match as a forward and score a couple and then they'd stick him in the back four for the second half to keep out the goals.
He's the greatest ever Welsh player and was voted so. Bobby Robson said he was the most magnificent player he ever saw and that his mind as a footballer was incomparable to that of any other, a true genius.

Wish there was some video somewhere of him, you never hear about him when anyone mentions 'great players'. (Probably sky's fault that).

Had the pleasure of meeting him a few times when my company had a box at Leeds Utd. He did the corporate stuff for them along with Bobby Collins,

He told me the best header of a ball and centre half was THE KING
(Picture hangs up in Elland Road of the pair of them challenging each other for the ball)
Also they spoke to each other about playing centre forward and centre half

    A TRUE LEGEND

My very 1st game was Good Friday 1957 v Leeds and he had signed for Juventus so it was his last game in England. We won 2-0 and Stan Anderson and Cannonball scored, but I can't remember much about how he played
