The programme about breaking down walls/perceptions between the public and the "polis" well they've certainly changed my perceptions of them.

- Majority of female staff are dykes
- Male staff are fractured people due to earlier experience's during their childhood!

I've watched 3 episodes and all of them apart from 1 person are utter wankers! He was a wanker too though.

What sort of person becomes a policemen? Do you know any?

I know two, my uncle and my childhood friend (who is now a detective) but during his early 20's 'alienated' his friends because they could not relate to him anymore. He'd been through a brainwashing system and was extremely cynical.

I really sympathise with the police because they deal with the lowest of the low, just pure human shit everyday, and it's no surprise they take a dim view of civilians, because they really do.

Thing is, this is nothing new. 99% of that job is dealing with scum who have no regard for you, your family, their family or their neighbours.

The detective I worked with said it straight out "25 years of seeing everyone as a criminal, then the next one trying to sort your head out, then after that you're just numb to it"

I would have made a fine policeman. "tally ho, pip pip" and all that and armed with a tray of buttered scones and a load of (shouting) "beh!"

I would diffuse any situation and quite possibly, save the world.

I agree, only saw the last series but it made them out to be right idiots with serious issues a lot of them. I used to have a lot of respect for the police growing up but a few incidents I've witnessed in later life have seriously put me off them, including getting beaten up by a copper for the heinous crime of questioning why he was battering a lass with his truncheon.
