Quite depressing watching this, I'm far too young to remember it being this busy but the town is really dead on its arse these days.

I never used to know what me Nanna really meant when she said the metro was one of the worst things to ever to happen to Shields, but I sort of do now.

I was walking through Shields on Wednesday and just admiring the Town Hall and how nice some of the streets are. Such a shame its died a death as any sort of retail/economic centre. As Tomassi points out, the metro or the modern world if you like has killed it.

Tin hat on, better town centre than Sunderland in terms of its look.

The car has effectively killed most town cetres. That and shite retail parks/tescso.

The first step to recovery must be to scrap parking fees.
