I still remember my daughter's first cry out in the night at about three years old... Oh no! I've dropped my ice cream!

My little boy attacked my wife during the night once when he had just turned 2, I think. It lasted about 10 minutes and I had to physically restrain him. He was punching, scratching and biting while not opening his eyes or responding to our efforts to calm him. All the while he was crying and screaming and trying to get at my wife. He then went onto the landing and rested against the stair gate. I gave him a minute and then went to see him, at this point he woke up and was his normal self again. Cuddled into the mrs and went off to sleep.

It was bloody terrifying at the time.

One of my work colleague's son (6 years old) has just started them. Apparently there's no cure and nothing you can really do, it's caused by the transition from deep sleep to a lighter sleep so I was told. The kids grow out of them eventually.

I've suffered with night terror attacks for many years. Quite freaky when it happens, you are aware of it happening, but there is nothing you can do to stop yourself.

I've had moments where I've jumped out of bed thinking loads of snakes were in there, switching on light and taking off sheets to check and quickly checking room to see if they are hiding. Fighting with a giant wasp, holding onto it, then getting out of bed and sleepwalking to window and then letting it out.

My brother suffers from them too, he nearly knocked himself out once, jumping out of bed and slamming into wall when trying to run away from something chaing him.

I get them every now and again like, they're weird. Had one the other night where my room was full of mangled rats. I know what's happening but I still jump out of bed and shout like a twat.
