Now my dad was supporting sunderland in the 50's and always classed himself as a a geordie
in the 1973 cup final dvd we are referred to as the geordie team by the commentators

i now refer to myself as a mackem for football reasons only but if i supported liverpool i wouldnt call myself scouse

i think an accurate description is a geordie black cat

as the black cats was always our nickname

i dont mind being called a mackem, i live in sunderland council area now anyway but i dont call the scum geordie whatevers because not all geordies are barcodes

anyway just a thread to be ripped at as its gonna be a long summer

well am from felling like you and am a geordie too, am not a mackem and never will be or want to be but i follow sunderland, me mates at school, (many moons ago) used to call me a mackem, just used to say, no, am a sunderland supporter now fuck off!!!

Im never happy at being called a Mackem. If someone calls me it i point out im a Sandy/Geordie who supports Sunderland. This usually leaves your typical thick mag stumped and speechless
