Dont need a replacement for Bent.....
A lot of non SAFC mate have asked me who we are gonna get to replace Bent and my answer has been we dont need a replacment for him (ie a £15million striker) we simply need a new striker to act as back up.
Bent doesnt need replacing as we already have Welbeck and Gyan. If you put the 3 strikers in order of performance this season I would go Welbeck, Gyan and then Bent. Our best partnership has looked like Welbeck & Gyan, Then Welbeck & Bent, then Bent & Gyan. Bruce has been struggling with how to fit them all in the team all season, he couldnt really drop Gyan or Welbeck due to their form but also couldnt drop Bent as he needs to be the "main man". Its no coincedence that some of our poorest performances have come with all 3 in the side, and that some of our best have come with no Bent. As I see it we are better off investing the money in the midfield.....our real problem area. Bring in Sulley, Sesse and NZog and one of Bothroyd, Keane, Carew or SKP to be our 3rd choice striker and I will be happy as a pig in shit and Bent will be long forgotten |

I think SB needs a new CDM ( a role Muntari can sort of play) and move Jordan behind a lone striker or 2 strikers (if Welbeck) is fit.

we need a goalscoring midfielder more than a striker.
I'm trying to remember the last midfielder we had that got 10 in a season...

With Bent we currently have only one fit striker.
Of the injured two, one is only on loan and the other is still recovering from the type of injury you don't always come back the same player from. I'd say replacing him is absolutely essential. |
