    Default Nikon D40

Bit of advice please. My Dad and BIL have the D40. Takes brilliant photos especially when you just want to point and click.

Are there any other similar cameras that I should look at before making a purchase?

EDIT : Sorry broke my golden forum rule and didn't do a search first. Plenty advice already in this forum. As you were....

Nikon D40 is a cracking entry level DSLR. I've got one and love it, maybe if I stick at it I'll upgrade but certainly no immediate plans to do so.

You'd be lucky to find anywhere that stocks them now unless you can pick one up second hand but like I said, it is brilliant for your first SLR.

Check out Ken Rockwells site, he raves about it and even still has it in the boot of his car ready to use
