Default Those working in Recruitment (Finance-based esp.)

Wanting a little bit of help, if you can spare a minute.

Someone I know is going for a graduate job with a company called CNC Consultants who specialise in recruiting for jobs in the finance sector apparently, and they've been asked to prepare a presentation for the interview- from what I understand it's essentially to illustrate that they understand who the company is, what they do and all that sort of stuff.

Anyway, they've been given limited time to prepare and are struggling with who the company's main competitors in the field are...anyone with a bit of experience or knowledge in the consultancy field help out on that score?

    Cheers in advance.

Tell them to make their mind up what they want - a finance bod or a fucking presenter?

Ah, I'm told it's actually called CMC Recruitment, rather than CNC. My error, not theirs.

    Anyway, question remains...

Tell to have a scout on jobserve, might not be the main point for financial sector jobs but should give him some pointers on who the competition is, especially if he searches for some of the roles cmc have and see who else is advertising the same job.

When I was in finance, although years ago, Hays seemed to be one of the bigger ones I can remember. If he gets a copy of accountancy age, or maybe looking around their website, he should get some ideas as well although it might not be focused on the parts of the financial sector they deal in.

Working in recruitment is a lot about sales, generating leads etc it might be something for him to bear in mind when he puts together his presentation.

If I were you maybe give it a bump in the morning when Rex is on as he appears to have experience of dealing with agents in this sort of area.

Gaapweb.com is the best place for finance jobs, should spot the competition there.
Some agencies will vary in regional profile and public/ private sector, plc based or partnerships or volume driven (hays) or more 'search and selection' type.
Easy to talk around a few slides.......

Never heard of CMC recruitment but don't take anything from that.

    Best for FS recruitment are:

    Robert Walters
    Joslin Rowe
    Robert Half
    Goodman Masson
    Green Park

Thanks marra, she's also got interviews with the top two and has made a note, and will look up, the other three.

Ta to everyone else for the other pointers, they've apparently been a good help.

    Same here,

I get sent stuff from Hayes.

Last time I used an agency it was Accountancy Additions, although I'm sure they've merged with someone now

Michael Page & Hudson are two global recruitment companies who have large offices in London. They have a strong presence in Finance and Accountancy. However they deal with other sectors so they are not a specialist. They also have a number of regional offices in the UK which will drill down to supply candidates to local business within their geographical area.

Nigel Wright in Newcastle is traditionally a F&A recruitment company, however they have diversified into other sectors.

I think Hays have Finance teams.
