    Is he still kicking about? he must be a canny age now like and well retired, the turf at Roker was always awesome

    I played on it at half time for the 6 a side final, 1988, v Notts County I think. Twas like a carpet, beautiful !!

    My mate played on it for Burnley youths and scored at the fullwel end and it was on video, in moments of maudling drunkiness he used to put it on and remember how life could have been so so different for him

    Tommy??? Did he not move to Durham F C and look after the pitch the ressies played on. Don't know what he's up to now though.

    He did mate. Maintained a cracking pitch there, n'all.

    He was a canny age when he worked for us - I'll not be surprised if he's retired now.

    Tommy Porter, He retired around 98/99 iirc. If he's still alive, he'll be pushing on 80 won't he?! The last I heard of him, he was helping out at Durham City.
