Premier League future
Football finances is a hot topic at the moment and I got to thinking about how things might turn out in the not-so-distant future.
I can see Chelsea winning the league again next year. (Yawn). Not because they are fantastic but because their rivals aren't strong enough.
Man Utd are very limited in scope for buying new talent due to the debt at the club. They need new players too - the old guard of Scholes/ Neville/ Giggs cant last forever at the top level.
City have lots of funds but I think they are some way short of the mark as a team to win the league yet.
Spurs are on the up, but like City, not good enough to win the title yet.
Liverpool are stuffed I think. Torres looks like he wont be around much longer and the debt at the club is scary.
Arsenal are well run but Wenger needs a few top quality players to challenge Chelsea.
On the positive side for us, I see chinks appearing in the armour of the top sides. The days of crazy spending/crazy wages are on the way out. Not saying we are going to win the league any time soon, but top 8 doesnt look too far away at the moment.
I would bet there are a lot of people looking at the position SAFC is in with envy.
Ellis Short bought SAFC for a very small sum compared to the price on most clubs these days. In doing so, he might just have made the deal of the century.
