West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has said that he expects a whopping £16.5million for striker Carlton Cole .


26-year-old Cole impressed for West Ham in what was a difficult season for the Hammers, scoring ten goals and making an all-round contribution to the side.

However, West Ham chiefs David Gold and David Sullivan have made it clear that they are prepared to sell any member of the squad, apart from Scott Parker, making 26-year-old Cole a prime transfer target.

Now Sullivan has upped the ante, saying in The Sun, "If Darren Bent is worth £16.5m, then so is he.

"Bent has proved he's worth every penny. They are like for like and worth the same."

Although several clubs, particularly Stoke City have been linked with the striker, Cole is reportedly happy in London and wants to be part of Avram Grant's West Ham regime. However, Grant may well have to sell some of his top players in order to bring in new talent to Upton Park.

The same Bent who has constantly outshone Cole in the goals department every season is suddenly worth the same absolultely laughable

Cole is neewhere near as good as our Dazza, neewhere near as prolific over the past few years and neeway is he worth £16.5m like

Bent is a confidence player and looks class if playing week in week out which is why he struggles for England when he gets the odd game and why he had so many poor games for spurs.

Cole on the other hand is a good player but nothing more. He will never get any better.

Bent was worth what sunderland paid because he offers goals regardless of how he is playing. Cole offers nothing at times and no way is he worth £10m more than Fletcher

I'm not suggesting that we sign him, but I think that Cole & Bent would make a very good partnership.

Cole is at the very least one level below Bent's ability.

Sullivan and Gold will be delighted if they attract £7m for him. Makes sense in terms of bargaining to set their initial valuation far higher.

You can take nothing at face value when in comes to money and football.

i think what is being missed is that this is what we are paying for bent to spurs, originally.

of course bents value will have increased as per last season

Cole and Bent are different kinda strikers, Cole is more a Jones kinda player but a lesser version.
