If I ever come accross my careers advisor again i'd smash his teeth out!

17 years i've worked in IT, and the last couple of years it has turned into an industry full of proper know-it-all geeks.

I'm stuck, making half decent money, surrounded by these people and in no way could i afford to get out! They just never switch off, geeks at work, and geeks after works time. I dont fit in at all!

I am on an IT degree course and do work experience one day a week ( I am 41 btw)
The lads in the IT office just look at you like you are thick ( I am ) when you don't know what they fuck they are talking about.
It is all acronyms and abbreviations for stuff. Because they know something, they expect everyone to know it too.

Fair play to you for giving IT a go like, got to ask why though, when the wages seem so low ?

Not what I wanted to do but seemed better prospect of work and this course let me go straight to degree level instead of building up.
After 18 years at datsun, anything would do.

I've worked in IT for about 20 years and would like to change careers.

I'm not exactly Captain Sociable but some of the geeks here are as ignorant as fook.

That aint just IT, most big companies love using acronyms, it's all just people trying to sound cleverer than they are, no matter what the industry.
