Punching above our weight.
I hate to say it, but I think today's result has made me realise the reality of things. All this 'magic carpet' ride with Quinn seemed great. A sleeping giant going on to big things, but it hasn't happened. With Quinn stepping down and how shite we have been, I think the feel good factor we had around the club has now completely gone IMO.
With our support, which for the shite we've endured is absolutely fantastic, we should be a big club. It really saddens me to say this, but the reality is, we aren't. We were trying to punch above our weight.
I'm not being negative here to wind people up, but I just feel really down after that and I feel reality has hit home. I just hope Bruce leaves and we get someone in who gives that feel good factor back.

Re: Punching above our weight.
I should have explained what I meant better.
What I meant was that we tried to punch above our weight, going for Europe and all that. I do agree how ever that with the money we've spent, we should be doing miles better, that's why Bruce has to go.

Re: Punching above our weight.
It was only a few years ago under Keane that we were told that there's no reason we shouldn't expect champions league football in the coming years. Now we're being told we're 'expecting too much'.
No doubt at least one of the playing staff will be quoted as saying something along similar lines in the echo this week in support of the manager.
One thing I know for sure, if we aren't punching above, or in some cases even competing with; Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton, Wolves, Stoke, Norwich, Swansea, West Brom etc., then there is something seriously fucking wrong.

Shutup you absolute joker!
We've got amongst the best facilities in the premier league and a very good history.
At the minute it's our manager letting us down. Sunderland AFC should be performing better than this.

Re: Punching above our weight.
Quinn had big plans but tried to execute them with small managers. Keane was a risk well worth taking in my eyes, but Bruce was just madness.

Re: Punching above our weight.
As a club, we're too down on ourselves, we should be ambitious, try and get managers who are relatively proven as class and winners. Our current manager only talks about how we have too much expectation and shouldn't try to get above our station. Fuck that, we should be trying to beat fucking everybody, not doing things like playing 451 at home to Fulham.

I just said that I agreed with that. Bruce needs to go. Like I said, what I meant is we were trying to punch above our weight by people saying we should be in Europe and the top 6.
I'm not saying at all that we are punching above our weight now, we should be miles better than the shite like Wigan and Blackburn.

I also agree with this. We should try to be more ambitious. Go for Benitez if Bruce go's. It will cost, but it's better than getting another Bruce.

Re: Punching above our weight.
Have you seen the dross in the Premier League man? Norwich are 9th, Newcastle are 4th ffs. You don't have to be fantastic to win games and hover around upper to mid table, just be well organised, spirited and have a clear game plan - all the things we lack under Bruce. 3 points from West Brom, Villa, Fulham and Wigan at home is shocking.
