Sterilising people.

canny bit of crack on here today (and a few radges) regarding scroungers, also benefit fraud, a fairly common denominator seems to be kids and the opportunity they afford people to obtain free stuff.

i heard a comment on the radio a while back about the potential to sterilise people until they could prove they are in a stable relationship, of good character and have the financial means to raise a child.

assuming that that this could be carried out with no significant health risks, would you be for this idea or do you think it is morally wrong?

I'll be straight up and say I'm on the fence like.

Some people dont deserve kids, but dont know who i would trust to make the decision. Power corrupts and the suggestion is we appoint someone to play God. Its a non starter (However beneficial it could be)

thats the bit i dont like. who determines all of the criteria for 'fit and proper person'. there is some obvious stuff like regular income and no previous, but what else.....

Watching Horizon last night where the genetics of the psychopath have apparently been discovered, in what has been named the warrior gene, it showed some families can quite litterally give birth to murderous time bombs. However, it went on to say that it was your upbringing that lit to fuse. Make your own mind up with this.
