    Default The Phantom Menace 3D

Thought I'd introduce the kids to Star Wars so took them to see Episode 1 on the big screen in 3D. Forgot how much of a pile of utter shite this film was. Taxation of trade routes, federation blockades, etc etc. wtf was George Lucas thinking? I'm just glad the bairns didnt ask me what was going on.

Not a great deal of special 3D moments either. Bit of a rip off really, and the start of lots of 3D versions of older films to come i.e. Titanic, the next 5 Star Wars (!) and Lord Of The Rings supposedly.

Should have had the writing go up the screen to explain the first hour of tedium, then added all Darth Maul's screen time to the 2nd one. On a par with kindom of the crystal skull.

It's a great scene regardless, probably the only highlight along with the Darth Maul light sabre fight at the end. 3D on the race was good but because the movie wasn't made with 3D in mind, there wasn't any standout scenes, unlike say Avatar which was stunning in 3D. To be honest I forgot I was watching it in 3D after 5 minutes.
