    Default Brixton Academy

Heading there for a gig and was wondering if the wise heads from the SMB had advice on hotels/pubs after gig. Missus likes her comfort so Hotel YMCA is not an option! I know it's a shit area and it's on the Victoria Line but after that, advice is appreciated. James in December before you ask. Sláinte

turn right out of the academy and walk up stockwell road.

about half a mile theres a pub on your left. can't remember the name of it (possibly the kings/queens head). was there at easter. it had live music outside in a nice covered beer garden. inside are big loungy settees and a good range of beers. they had a homemade ginger beer

hotel - carry on up stockwell road to stockwell tube. 2 stops to pimlico. city inn is 10mins walk. in a very quiet area of westminster. highly rated on tripadvisor. best rates if you book early

Easy to get anyway in London from there after the gig. Couple of pubs near the venue are okay.

Don't buy any weed round there though, fecking shite and not from near ladbrokes, bastard cctv

It's not the most pleasant area to be wandering round at night directly after a concert, he's right. Don't believe the myth that Brixton has been pretty much "gentrified" as it's totally untrue.

Plenty of decent hotels on Victoria line stops. I'd head for somewhere closer to Victoria station personally.

Last time I went I walked from Stockwell tube and passed a murder scene and witnessed a robbery.

    Class venue though.

Got the bus back to Victoria from the bus stop opposite after the gig. I'd recommend heading somewhere else once it's over.
