Improving Fitness & Losing Weight.
I've decided to finally get off my arse and get rid of this extra weight and also improve my fitness without getting knackered easy.
I'm planning to go running most nights of the week on an evening. As well as cut down on the amount of shite I eat during the week, takeaways etc.
It'll also help me cut down on spending most of my wage on food as well.
Anyone else got any tips or advice for what lies ahead?
I've got a bit of a capital D going but at the age of 24 it takes the piss.
I bought the Nike App for my mobile to get started running locally and hopefully to go further as 'the weeks progress.

Carbohydrates are your enemy mate.
Humans have been on this planet for 2.5 million years, yet only in the last 10 thousand have we started eating grain. Our bodies are not adapted for it.
Think primal -eat as much eggs, meat, nuts, vegetables, fruit and nuts as you want -but keep off the pasta and bread.
Try this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Waist-Dispos.../dp/1848501153
It's working for me. Oh and good luck, its fucking tough.

Re: Improving Fitness & Losing Weight.
As someone with a great interest in health, fitness and nutrition as well as being fairly well educated on the subject, and having lost four stone myself about 10 years ago (and kept it off) I'd like to ask you a question.
Why have you chosen running above everything else to help you lose weight, and also, do you like running?

Re: Improving Fitness & Losing Weight.
Find out what your ideal weight should be for height, age and frame.......
Set a target the middle of what your weight is now and your ideal weight is... i.e weight is 14 st ideal weight 11 st - aim for 12.5st initially - as its not as big a target. You should feel motivated once your there to get to your ideal weight.
Diet wise
Eat oat bran type cereals - they keep you fuller for longer.
Lunch - vegtables - carrots, celery cucumber - with tuna, chicken crabsticks as a protein source.
Evening Meal - Brown rice with veggies... When I was doing my health kick I used the uncl bens Whole Grain stuff, with onions, peppers and sweetcorn and a bit of tuna, chicken or lean bacon.
Snacks - carrot sticks, celery sticks, fruit. Crackerbreads with v low fat spreads.
Trick is to drink plenty of water too.
Good luck.

I had major surgery last year, and had been on my back for the guts of a year, so had/have quite a bit of weight to shift. I've been doing it slowly and it's staying off.
Keep active with something you enjoy. I do martial arts about 4 times per week. I like it better than jogging, as it's a skill and it's social and you get a varied workout.
"breakfast like a king, lunch like a king and dine like a pauper". Big brekkie will stop you snacking at morning tea time. Big lunch will keep you going til dinner.n Then have a small enough dinner, and burn off some calories overnight.
Agreed about the carbs. They alter your insulin levels and affect the way you store and burn fat. Some carbs are needed if you're going to be active, but take it easy on the bread and pasta.
The above would be what's helping me. Good luck with it, though. It's a tough enough road.

Re: Improving Fitness & Losing Weight.
With my lifestyle I don't have the chance to reap the benefits of going to a gym. By the time I get in from work my Son is going to bed around 6-7 so spending time with him till he latches off to sleep. So it's only evenings I can squeeze in.
So far today I've drank 2x750ml of water. I know it's early days but I usually drink a load of sugared shite which doesn't help. I rarely drink booze either.
I'm quite built and had been toned about 2 year ago. Since the birth of child I've been lazy when coming to prepare meals and just relying on a quick fix such as takeaways etc.
I'm gonna weigh myself tonight and check every other week to see what I've lost.
I just want to get rid of this kite, been sick of it for a long time.

I agree with all of the above, apart from one thing. How in the bejesus do people have the time to exercise 4 times a week? If you work, do other people do all of your shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing etc etc?

Re: Improving Fitness & Losing Weight.
drink more water, your brain gives off the same signal when your thisty as it does when your hungry.............
always eat breakfast........bran,por idge are great
if you use public transport, get off the bus 3 stops earlier and walk the rest and gradually build from there
use stairs instead of the lift.
the only way to loose weight is to use more callories than your putting in.
dont overdo it
